The Era of Void

Having worked in Media for over 20 years, I have firsthand experience on how scale has changed the relation between Contents and Society. In 2021, I developed the Project "Media Gone Wrong" in which, through art, I explore such issue from a cultural point of view. Now, as a new proposal, I have re-curated it in order to focus on the social vicissitudes created by the massive scalability global media has gone through. I have called it "The Era of Void", addressing the phenomena in which over abundance of Content leads to less attention, instead of more; an "emptiness" generated by the "fullness". Scale acting against itself, the nothing within the all. Lack of attention to begin with but also unappreciation, distraction, misunderstanding, institutionalized lying, wasted efforts and resources, unnoticed bot interaction and ultimately void are only some byproducts of the now imponderable and ungraspable scale of media. A new reality in which everyone has a medium and all "voices" interact at once is creating a downward spiral between excess of content and lack of attention.
